50 Days to More: Day Twelve

50 Days to More

A Seven Week Campaign to Begin 2018

Week 2: Defining the Uncommon Dream that Energizes You

Day Five (1/18/18): The Uncommon Dream and Relationships
Recommended Reading: Genesis 40:5-18

The uncommon dream will reveal changes in relationships. This goes along with what we discussed yesterday. We’ve talked about the fact that Joseph received opposition from his brothers. In addition, he saw changes with nearly everyone in his life when his God started to make his dream a reality. Relationships with people will often change as our lives evolve and we are used more and more by God. However, covenant relationships do not change. We aren’t in these special types of relationships with everyone. Covenant relationships are long-lasting commitments to other people; they last through all seasons of our lives. There are many who aren’t able to handle the responsibility that comes with these covenant relationships--they are more interested in convenience relationships.

“Some who came with you to where you are may not be willing or capable of going with you to where you're going.” -Dr. Mike Brown

Those who admire you and your dream will want to participate in it. They’ll want to be involved and help you in any way they can. However, those who are intimidated by the dream might withdraw from you and bring opposition in fulfilling that vision. Even though it might be painful, we have to allow our dreams to reveal necessary changes in our relationships. Instead of letting our relationships control the direction of our dreams, we must let our dreams control our relationships! When we do this, God is faithful to connect us with people who will stand with us, encourage us, and pray with us about our visions!

Joseph’s life was full of relationships that The Lord used to lead him to his destiny as king. Joseph begins to interpret dreams of many people including Pharaoh’s officers, the butler, and the baker. All of these dreams turned into reality.

In time, Joseph even interpreted dreams for Pharaoh, which Pharaoh believed and received. His relationship with Pharaoh became very good as he was one day made the ruler of Egypt. The ones who honored Joseph’s dreams could honor him, and the ones who could not honor his dreams couldn’t honor him.

If you have people in your life that can’t honor the dream that God has put inside of you, you simply do not need them in your life. The people you associate with will determine whether you win or lose. Although it’s not always easy to break off these relationships, it is vital if you want to pursue your destiny. The uncommon dream will eliminate the wrong people from your life.

God will bless us by bringing the right people into our lives. However, we must be aware that Satan will also bring people into our lives in order to hurt us. This is important to remember when God protects us by removing our toxic relationships.

You might be reading this with specific relationships in your mind--relationships that are hindering you. Today, ask God to help you break those off. He will bless you with people who support your dreams instead!
