50 Days to More: Day Three

50 Days to More

A Seven Week Campaign to Begin 2018

Week 1: Knowing the True Source of all Increase in Your Life

Day Three (1/9/18): Satan’s Deception Concerning Increase: Part II
Recommended Reading: John 10:1-10

Yesterday, we discussed two ways that Satan tries to deceive God’s people when it comes to increase. If you haven’t read that yet, please refer to yesterday’s post to catch up. If you’ve already read it, then let’s dive right in!

3. Satan creates an attitude of self-sufficiency.

If Satan can’t convince people that God doesn’t want them to have more, he’ll convince them that they can gain more without God in their lives. Consider the statement “I’m a self-made millionaire.” This phrase is not intended to imply that this millionaire’s success was created by himself, without God. It actually means that the millionaire did not inherit his wealth and earned it in his own lifetime.

4. Satan creates jealousy toward people who have more.

If the enemy is unable to deceive you with one of the first three points we discussed, he will very often cause you to feel jealous of other people's’ success. This is dangerous because jealousy causes us to dwell on what others have instead of working and praying for the increase we wish to see in our own lives. Jealousy stunts our growth.

5. Satan tempts you to pursue increase unlawfully or unethically.

This is a common way that Satan destroys the potential growth that God wishes to produce in us. He destroys it by using the God-given desire for more against us. Like we said yesterday, everything that God touches prospers. Although illegal activity may lead to riches and even fame, God’s hand will never be upon it. It will never lead to true prosperity and success.

Stay alert and be on the lookout for these lies from Satan. Has he caused you to believe any of these deceptions? Has he attempted to hinder your potential to prosper? Today, seek God’s wisdom in discerning these lies and ask him to help you believe his truth!

“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.” - 3 John 2 (ESV)
