Creativity: New Wineskin
Creativity: New Wineskin
Welcome to our newest blog series: Creativity! The next few posts will focus on this topic that we really believe is key to reaching the next generation for Christ.
Before we dive into the necessity and potential of using creativity in the body of Christ, we first must understand its importance! Creativity can often be pushed aside or put on the back burner when it comes to daily life or ministry. But it really is irreplaceable!
In Mark 2, Jesus talks about the importance of embracing the new by comparing it to garments and wineskins.
Mark 2:21-22, “No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.”
Throughout Scripture and by revelation of the Holy Spirit, we can identify several things as new wineskins. As believers, we need to embrace these things in order to change our old thinking and lifestyles. These could also be referred to as new paradigms that shift from your old thought patterns and perspectives.
Creativity is a new wineskin! It’s the next level for us to reach in the Kingdom of God. Since man and woman were created in God’s image, that means we are created to create – because He’s a creator! We need to think of creative ways to reach this culture in order to have more of God’s glory and increase our influence!
We reflect the nature of God the most when we create! Whether that’s through “traditional” creative arts that people think of (like music, painting, writing, dancing, etc.), by organizing and putting things in order, or by reaching people for Christ through an unconventional method. Find something that you could create and use it for the glory of God – no matter what it is. The more unique – the better!
Creativity has so much potential in our culture today because this next generation is tired of the predictable. They want to experience things that are fresh, real, and out of the box! So today we want to challenge you: think of something that you are passionate about and how you could use it to bring others to Jesus! Let Him bring you into a new level of His glory and allow new wine to flow out of you!
