A Seven Week Campaign to Begin 2018
Week 7: Sowing Uncommon Seeds with Expectation
Day Forty-Eight (2/23/18): The Targeted Seed
Recommended Reading: Matthew 13:1-9
Today’s reading is the Parable of the Sower. In this parable Jesus tells of a farmer sowing seed into four different kinds of soil, and there were four different results. The seed that fell on the good soil produced grain and harvests of up to hundred, sixty, and thirty fold!
Our focus today is on the targeted seed. When you target your seed toward a harvest that you are expecting, God will bring that harvest into your life! The key is to make sure you are sowing into the right soil with your targeted seed. Just like the parable.
Point your seed toward the harvest that you need and that seed will have the DNA of whatever it is you are praying and expecting to receive. If you want a certain crop in a physical harvest, farmers make sure they sow those seeds. If farmers want an apple tree, then they must sow apple seeds that will grow that tree! Targeting your seed gives it an assignment, and God is faithful to honor his laws and your expectation.
Here are a few examples of the importance of targeting your seed and sowing into the right soil. If you have a child who is far from God, you could sow into a ministry that reaches young people for Christ. This seed will bless the ministry that you are giving to, plus it will schedule a harvest for God to do a miracle in your child’s life.
If you need a physical healing from God, you could sow into a ministry that is blessed with a healing anointing and that proclaims words of faith. This will bless this ministry to continue in their work for the Kingdom, but it will also give God an opportunity to do a miracle in your life!
Sowing these types of targeted seeds sows God just how serious we are about believing the power of his word and his laws. The power of the seed is undeniable, and he created the law of sowing and reaping in the first place! When we show him our faith in action by sowing seeds, he is faithful to schedule a harvest for us.
Another amazing thing about sowing seeds for a targeted harvest is that there can be a Double Fold Blessing. Your seed will naturally bless the soil it’s put into, plus it will bless whatever you are expecting to receive. Just like in the previous examples of giving, both a ministry and you personally can benefit from the same seed. It can actually reap a double fold harvest. But this is only activated when you target your seed by faith and with expectation!
Now here is where we really must remain firm in our faith and trust God. After sowing your seed, don’t ever deny, regret, or curse your seed. Your harvest may not come when you expect it to, but it will come in God’s timing. The key is to stay the same on your seed! Don’t give up; believe that God will bring it to pass. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts! (Isaiah 55:9)
If you desire something for God to do in your life today, remember He is our only source! Pray about sowing seeds into the right soil to bring a harvest that you are anticipating by faith! These could be financial seeds, but they could also be seeds of diligent learning and study, or creative ways you could bless the personal lives of the people in that ministry. Pray and dwell on it; God will give you direction.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21 (ESV)
