50 Days to More: Day Thirty-Four

Day Thirty-Four  (2/9/18): Partial Obedience

The story of Namaan’s healing of leprosy is quite powerful. There are several lessons we can learn here today from this one story about the consequences of partial obedience. Namaan was a prestigious man in Syria, he was actually a commander of the army. However, he was also a leper. An Israelite servant girl told Namaan about the prophet Elisha in Israel who could cure him of his leprosy.

Day Thirty-Three (2/8/18): Hourly Obedience

As we have been studying all this week, obedience is key to living a life of increase with God. But today we will be learning about the importance of hourly obedience. Obedience must be an hourly event on the pathway to 1,000 times more. It is not a one-time thing; it’s a lifestyle. It must be a part of your routine and your manner of living.

Day Thirty-Two (2/7/18): The Proof that You Love God
This week, we have firmly established that God requires us to obey him if we love him (see John 14:15). God requires our obedience because he is not impressed by our words, but by our actions. Talk is cheap. A person who doesn’t believe in God can say that they love him, but of course it won’t mean anything. We can experience a powerful time of intimacy in God’s presence and tell him over and over again that we love him. But if we never obey God when it comes down to it, then did our words have any meaning? That’s why God--rightfully so--wants us to prove our love for him. He proved his love for us by sending his Son to die for us.

Day Thirty-One (2/6/18): The Cost of Obedience

Although God requires that we obey him, he never promised that it would be easy or painless. Jesus very clearly tells us that we will keep his commands if we love him (John 14:15), but that’s all he says. He doesn’t say to keep his commands if we love him and it makes us happy or is easy. True obedience is doing anything that God commands, regardless of the cost or consequences. God’s commandments aren’t up for negotiation. Any argument we might have against his terms is immediately rejected.

Day Thirty (2/5/18): Obedience and Miracles

Yesterday, we talked about the fact that God requires our obedience. This principle is so important when it comes to seeing increase in our lives. Whenever we need a miracle, God will give us a set of instructions to obey. This makes total sense because if God handed out miracles left and right, we would never need to have faith and we would never grow. People would not follow God because of who he is, but because of what they could get from him. We have to give God our obedience in order to get what we are asking for.
